In-Person Program Overview
A class trip to the Center for the Urban River at Beczak is an educational experience your students will never forget.
Through observation, exploration, and discovery, our education programs connect children to the natural world. We utilize an interdisciplinary approach to environmental education using the Hudson River and community as our classroom. All programs align with New York and Next Generation Science Standards and incorporate inquiry-based, hands-on learning for students of all ages.
Our program repertoire is always growing. If you do not see something you are looking for or need help customizing the programs with your education goals, just ask!
Lunch Accommodations: Most groups eat lunch at our Center before or after a program. Weather-depending you can picnic in the park or eat indoors in the classroom space. There are benches around the park or you can bring blankets to sit on.
Parking: The Center has a parking lot for additional visitors and space for buses.
Reserving your program:
A 50% non-refundable deposit is required if you are booking 3 months in advance. The remaining balance is due no later than 2 weeks before the program date.
Many of the outdoor riverfront programs are dependent on the tides and spaces are limited so please call early to schedule your visit. This includes “Catch of the Day” Seining and Marsh Exploration programs.
