CURB Hosts Westchester Coalition for Clean Water

by Ryan Palmer - Director of CURB
On January 13th over 40 people representing local non-profits, town boards, sustainability committees, and climate task forces gathered at CURB for an “All-Member Meeting” of the Westchester Coalition for Clean Water.
Formed in 2024, the coalition seeks to push for greater actions by Westchester County and local governments on issues including water pollution from our sewers, flooding from stormwater, safe fishing and shellfishing and increasing access to our waterfronts. WCCW is calling for all waterways in Westchester to be clean and healthy, free of trash and sewage, and flood resilient within 10 years.
The event included presentations on the history of the WCCW, an overview of Westchester’s sewage infrastructure and road salt issues, and strategies to address them. Presentations from the event will be available on Riverkeeper’s YouTube soon.
CURB is a founding member of the coalition and leads their Yonkers-focused work group.
