18 Students Participate in CURB's Hudson River Ecology Curriculum and Course

CURB staff welcomed the third cohort of young adults participating in the Hudson River Ecology Curriculum and Course (HRECC). 18 students participated in the weeklong course, 10 of which were Yonkers public high school students that received a scholarship as part of our upcoming Evaluating Estuary Lateral Species (EELS) Team grant, funded by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation. Upon completion of their final project, students will receive 1 college credit from Sarah Lawrence College.

The theme of ecology laced through different subjects ranging from sediment exploration to fish species identification. All of the thematic lessons include scientific and engineering practices, such as: asking questions, constructing explanations and using scientific tools to collect and analyze data. We congratulate the HRECC 2023 cohort for completing this year's program!
