CURB Hosts Free Programs for Yonkers Community Groups

This summer, CURB hosted 229 students on 15 field trips from 10 different Yonkers community groups, including Yonkers Partners in Education, Westhab, and San Andres Church, to name a few. The field trips ranged from our Catch of the Day Seining program, taking students out in the water to help us catch and release fish, to learning about the Hudson River Food Web, and exploring Animal Adaptations. Students all spent at least two hours at CURB’s waterfront site learning about the Hudson River, engaging in hands-on education, and exploring their local community, both in the park and underwater.

Orientation

Educators also provided a pre-program training for camp administrators to introduce them to local Hudson River topics and activities. Funding was generously provided by Con Edison and the City of Yonkers Community Development Block Grant, ensuring that the students could participate in these programs for free.
