Eagle Scout Candidate Renovates CURB's Children's Garden

This spring we had the pleasure of working with Michael Slattery and the scouts of Troop 29 in Yonkers on an Eagle Scout renovation project of our children’s garden. Michael began organizing his project back in the winter of 2020, but within weeks, the COVID-19 pandemic began. Still, Michael continued to push forward with approvals and fundraising and was ready to begin on-site work this spring.

Michael and a group of fellow scouts and parents cleared out our old rotting garden beds and installed 11 new boxes. They also extended the garden fence out to fit the new boxes, painted the fence, covered all of the weeds with fabric and mulch, and filled the boxes with donated soil.

Thank you Michael for all of your hard work! We are looking forward to utilizing this beautiful space once again for our children’s garden program this summer and fall.
